Cannaregio’s canals are lined with fondamente, or pedestrian walkways, and you can stroll for hours along tranquil waters, taking in the lively residential scene and marveling at some rather impressive architecture. To see its major sites—the churches of San Alvise, Madonna dell’Orto, and the Miracoli, plus the Jewish Ghetto and the Ca’ d’Oro—you will need the better part of a day.
